William Lennon & Co is a fourth-generation family business in the Peak District. It has made traditional leather boots and shoes in the Old Corn Mill at Stoney Middleton since 1904, using methods and machines "from a by-gone era". Some of the skills handed down in the factory are now unique to the firm.
The company began by making work boots for the local quarrying and lead-mining industries. It says it is the only remaining heavy-duty leather boot and shoe maker in England, and it also makes Ruff-lander safety boots. A small team of craftsmen and women makes every pair, and every order has a minimum lead time of 30 working weeks.
