Jonathan Hyde founded Hyde Wares in 2015 "from an urge to slow down". He taught himself leathercraft while living in Portugal and began by making things he wanted to use himself: a sturdy camera strap, a key fob, "a belt that would last until I'm an old man".
He designs and makes every wallet, belt and strap himself at Exchange Place Studios, part of Yorkshire Artspace, and test-drives each new design before it goes on sale. He also runs monthly leathercraft workshops for small groups, and spends his summers working as a mountain guide.
